Here is a little bit about my likes, dislikes, etc
My goal for 2018 is to update my jewelry style with new techniques which I have been learning last year - I have a few new ideas in mind  (also to get a new lap-top  mine does not do the period much anymore as you will notice in my typing)

Last year was a big teaching year - so many people wanted to learn new things
My fav things to work with -  glass & metal
Least fav things are probably seed beads  although I do use a few of the larger ones to use as spacers
My personal style clothing wise is leggings, jeans  chic casual
I got into jewelry as a way to use my own glass beads that I make in my studio  with glass from Murano, Italy -- also I have a great collection of vintage jewelry from my Grandmother
My jewelry style is whimsical, boho, asymmetrical for the most part
My fav colours are turquoise, lime green, teal  or second fav has to be pink, purple, orange together
Fav mediums: glass, metal
Fav metals:  copper, silver plate, sterling silver
Thing that I would rather not work with:  seed beads
I make most of my own components---- such a satisfying thing to do !!!

There you have it ----hope I have covered all the points !!

Can't believe it has been almost a year since I last wrote   A very busy year teaching at my studio at the Rotary Centre for the Arts, a few shows, cleaning up our cabana down at the lake which was full of mold after the lake came up about 6 feet higher than normal (we lost our dock in the whole process)  A trip to Laos, Vietnam & Cambodia in the fall.

We have had a crummy winter so fall.  Lots of snow and roads covered with ice

The deer have  finished off our cedar hedge nothing left of this hedge now   It is such a problem..nothing seems to keep them out   they are so hungry  with snow covering everything.
Looks like it is time for the annual Bead Peeps Swap N Hop...
which I  am totally up for !!!

the beads I sent to Robin

Robins beads to me

these are the pieces that I made.. I added a few of my hand-made findings as well.
Love these turquoise stones.. my birthstone also..

Large Simple Elegant Stone  a statement piece all on it's own.

These are so cool !

Fab green stone & vintage chandelier crystal
This lock opens using a magnet.. fabulous !
More turquoise stones.. may keep this one for myself !
I think these are called daggers. I combined them with some dark blue crystals..strung on black rubber

I like to do lots of wire work.  That is sort of a signature feature  of mine.  In order to keep this blog short and sweet I  will not got into a lot of detail describing how I made each piece (also I do not know the names of all the stones.
I tried to use at least a good sampling of the stones, etc. that Robin sent..
Hope you like all of my pieces.

Where Did the Year Go ?

Here it is almost 2017... where did the time go ? I have seriously neglected you my dear blog and will try to do better in 2017..I have been very busy teaching at the Rotary Centre and then Christmas happened..Lots of ideas for New Work so will get started in the New Year.  The snow has stopped coming down for a while but more is  promised for tomorrow... Yeah !  another home day and  time to get some work done.

We have been having a royal battle with the deer population.. We put up a gate across our driveway but the deer seem to find a way in to our yard and eat every thing in sight.  More deer netting is in order I think..

Bead Peeps Swap N Hop

Thanks to our hostess  Linda Anderson

Well the time has come to unveil my pieces for the Swap N Hop... I received my goodies from the talented Lori Schneider of:  www.beadaddicted.blogspot.com  Here is what I sent Lori:

And here is what Lori Sent me:

I could see that I had my work cut out for me.. I started by picking out a few of the elements that Lori sent and then just following my natural instincts for designing the piece.  I did not have any preplanned ideas for the most part.  I was fortunate that I loved all the colours Lori sent me.   I had some turquoise, red, black, lime  #6 seed beads to add some contrast to the maily turquoise beads.

Here is a sweet little choker necklace I made with the cherry picture..

just added some green glass leaves.
Love those memory wire bracelets.
Love this sea urchin focal bead..  added some red seed beads for accent. Put the clasp in the front to add scale and interest.

focal clasp

This elephant was a bit of a challenge.  I ended up gluing a large bail on him and balanced him with two extra large round silver beads.  I graduated the beads for the necklace from large to small.

For this focal piece and lovely clasp I added some green glass leaves, used the white/turquoise beads(interspersed with black seed beads) and some large turquoise beads  (interspersed with lime seed beads)

I really loved this fold form copper piece that Lori sent. I hammered 2 holes in the top and added some jump rings and them a piece of twisted copper wire which I put solder on the end to keep in place.  I used my own handmade  glass head pins as stamens for the silver
flower and added some vintage, very tiny, sparkly seed beads to the flat patinaed beads.  I then soldered the flower pieces onto the back of the fold formed copper piece.  I am very pleased with the out come of this piece.  I have wanted to try fold forming for a while now.. so this will inspire me to get busy and try it.
I used a beautiful vintage chain and hammered copper clasp to  finish off.
